It’s the gift of gab for me! Yet it HAS hindered me from reaching full potential in many areas. What I have come to understand is that my words have the potential to work for or against me. At the top of 2020 I found myself in position to speak up about a matter that had become my sole responsibility.

GLENDON RAPHAEL MURRAY <3 I had to choose to speak life in order preserve the QUALITY his life!

The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.

Hearing better to speak better!

My 17 month old son is teaching me this. He has taught me how to hear with my eyes!

Okay sis, let me explain!

Raphael is non-verbal. He has a tracheostomy tube (trach) and scientifically speaking he should be able to speak verbally unless he has a speaking valve attached to his trach and is breathing “room air”. However, I have learned by watching him closely, he is talking constantly with other parts of his body. Therefore I have learned to listen in the same manner.

I tried this communication app with my 17 month old who has an extensive medical diagnosis list.

To my surprise, he had a lot to say! LOL

In hearing Raphael better, I’ve learned how to speak to Raphael in a way that he can respond clearly. For over a year I was talking to him in a way that yielded him to respond verbally. Denial being the culprit, I just believed he would miraculously speak verbally and audibly bypassing his trach. I have since learned to “use what is in my hands” instead of pulling from what I don’t have. He could have never responded the way I was looking for him to respond because he does not have access to those skills YET! Hearing better to speak better!
